Blooming Buds School, Moga celebrated ‘Christmas’
India’s festivals are a living example of the country’s “Unity in Diversity”: Kamal Saini
Blooming Buds School, a renowned educational institution of Moga city, celebrated the festival of Christmas under the leadership of Group Chairman Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Saini and Chairperson Mrs. Kamal Saini. Students dressed up as Santa and performed a dance to the song “Jingle Bell – Jingle Bell”. Toffees were distributed among the students present in the assembly. On the occasion of the morning assembly, students shared information related to the day through charts and articles and explained that Christmas is celebrated every year on 25th December to mark the birth of Jesus Christ. From this day, the twelve-day festival of Christmastide also begins. This festival holds special significance in the Christian community. Modern Christmas celebrations include exchanging gifts, attending church ceremonies, and decorating homes in various ways. School Principal Dr. Hamiliya Rani shared information about the history of the day, stating that according to the Bible, there lived a virgin girl named Mary in the city of Nazareth. One day, God sent an angel named Gabriel to Mary. The angel said to her, “You have found favor with God. You will give birth to a son and you shall name him Jesus.” At that time, the Roman king ordered a census. Therefore, Mary and her husband Joseph traveled to their ancestral city Bethlehem. When they reached there, the city was very crowded and there was no place available in any inn to stay. Finally, a kind-hearted man allowed them to stay in his stable. There, at midnight, Lord Jesus was born. It was further explained that Santa Claus (also known as “the Father of Christmas”) is a popular ancient figure associated with Christmas and is often linked with bringing gifts for children. In most countries around the world, Christmas is celebrated on 25th December. In many countries, celebrations begin on Christmas Eve, i.e., 24th December. On Christmas, pine or spruce trees are decorated with lights and ornaments. Chairperson Madam Kamal Saini addressed the children, saying that the festivals celebrated in India are symbols of the nation’s unity and integrity. Festivals bring happiness into our lives. India is a secular country where people of many religions live, and each religion is associated with several festivals that reflect their history and culture. We should respect every religion and its festivals and celebrate each festival with complete joy and enthusiasm. On this occasion, all staff members and students were present. The school administration distributed chocolates among the staff to sweeten the occasion.
